We are deeply saddened to share the news that our wonderful colleague and much loved friend Mike Beard passed away on Tuesday 25th March 2025.

Mike first joined Driver Require back in 2010 as a HGV2 driver and, although he was competent behind the wheel, his manual entries left much to be desired… A year later, in 2011, he joined our Stevenage team as a consultant, transforming our workplace with his infectious humour and light-hearted approach, working across a collection of Hertfordshire branches to eventually finding his niche, managing the Southern team, planning Ocado driver cover.

Those who knew Mike will remember his trademark sarcasm and his ability to bring a smile to everyone's face. He was the kind of colleague who could turn a stressful day around with just a quick joke or a witty comment. His love for life was evident in everything he did – whether he was enjoying a glass of red wine, a pint of real ale, cooking up a storm with Pink Floyd playing in the background, or bringing his unique energy to the office.

Mike wasn't just a colleague. He was a friend, a source of joy, and a vital part of the Driver Require family. The hole he leaves behind is immeasurable, and our hearts are heavy with his loss. Our deepest condolences go out to Mike's family, who are in our every thought.

Mike, we will miss your laughter, your spirit, and your incredible, indelible, presence. Rest in peace.

Wednesday 2nd April marked another successful Ocado Driver of the Year event at Mallory Park race circuit, blessed with amazing weather that made a welcome change from previous years! This was the 8th consecutive year that Driver Require has sponsored this prestigious event.

The sunshine created the perfect backdrop for a day dedicated to celebrating Ocado's exceptional drivers. Rather than being frozen to the core as in previous years, attendees enjoyed the warm weather while participating in various exciting activities throughout the day.

A special congratulations to our nominated driver Gabriel (pictured above, bottom middle), who got to enjoy the day and represented our team wonderfully. His dedication and excellence behind the wheel earned him this well-deserved recognition, and it was fantastic to see him taking part in all the day's activities.

The highlight for many drivers was the opportunity to get behind the wheel of some incredible cars and test their skills around the professional Mallory Park racing circuit.

Another popular attraction was our remote-controlled truck, which gave drivers a different kind of driving challenge. Many gathered around to test their precision and control in this miniature but equally engaging driving experience.

What made the day truly special was meeting so many dedicated drivers who deserved recognition for their hard work and commitment throughout the year. The event provided not just fun activities but also a meaningful opportunity to acknowledge their contributions to Ocado's success.

As we wrapped up another memorable Driver of the Year celebration, it was clear that the combination of perfect weather, exciting driving experiences, and well-deserved recognition created an exceptional day for everyone involved.

Our Driver of the Month for April is Terry Knight from Ocado Erith.

Compliments were sent from the Ocado Team to thank Terry for 'saving the day'. Another driver was on route for the shift when their car broke down. Terry stepped in very last minute to cover the shift. The team shared: "Can you please reiterate how helpful this was and how much this saved our day. Terry is always professional and helpful. Always happy to assist."
