Welcome to the October edition of The Extra Mile, your go-to newsletter for all things Driver Require. As the autumn leaves start to fall, we’ve had a busy and eventful month, and we’re excited to share the latest updates with you.
Safety remains our top priority, and this month, we're highlighting the critical issue of bridge strikes. We’ll be discussing
why staying vigilant is more important than ever and how you can play your part in preventing these incidents.
We’re also thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of our brand-new website! Designed with you in mind, it’s packed with features to make your experience smoother and more efficient. Keep your eyes peeled on social media to see when the website launches - we'd love to hear your feedback!
In addition, we’re excited to introduce a brand-new video series, “A Day in the Life of a Lorry Driver.” Follow our driver, Derri, as she takes you through her daily routine on the road. This series gives individuals a real insight into what it’s like behind the wheel and aims to inspire more people to join the industry.
And as always, we bring you our Driver of the Month, the latest news and a selection of hot jobs to keep you on the move.
Thank you for your continued hard work and commitment. We hope you enjoy this month’s

Macmillan Coffee Morning☕
A huge thank you to all those who supported our Macmillan Coffee Morning, whether that was in person or from afar. We're so pleased to say we raised a total of £320, and the donation page is still open if you'd like to donate!
It was great to have visits from our fellow industrial estate businesses for a catch up, some coffee and a cake. Last year, Macmillan's services reached and supported 2.3 million people affected by cancer and it's fantastic to
be able to contribute to this.
Our Northampton Branch are also hosting their Macmillan coffee morning on Friday 4th October at 10am. You can find them at: Moutlon Park Industrial Estate, 41 Lower Farm Road, Moulton Park, Northampton, NN3 6XF.
On the Road with Derri🚛
We have a very exciting new series coming up on social media! Our team went on the road with one of our Stevenage drivers, Derri, to showcase a day in the life of a lorry driver, and highlighting the wonderfully work you all do everyday.
You can see a sneak peek below, be sure to keep your eye out on our social media channels for the full series of
videos - engage, comment and let us know what you think!
A huge thank you to Derri for taking part in this project!
Be Aware of Bridge Strikes❌
An important reminder - as drivers, you must always know the height of your vehicle and compare it with the height restrictions of bridges on your route. It is advisable to perform regular checks of vehicle height, especially after any loading or modifications. If you have any concerns regarding route safety, you must communicate any concerns with the
transport office.
Bridge strikes can have severe consequences for safety, infrastructure, and traffic flow. It's important to take preventative measures such as careful route planning, attention to signage, and continuous training. We encourage drivers to be proactive in preventing bridge strikes by utilising technology, attending training sessions, and remaining vigilant on the road.
Our Driver of the Month for September is Barry Bond from our Tamworth Branch.
The team shared "Barry has been extremely helpful with covering any shift required and covered extra shifts down at
Ocado Erith for well over a month. He is always friendly on the phone and willing to offer help when needed. Barry has also taken the Induction at another client so he can work there as and when needed. He has never called out sick and even covers extra shifts last minute assuming he is able."
As a big "THANK YOU" for being a Driver Require Superhero we will be sending Barry a £25 Amazon gift card. Thank you for all your hard work Barry and for Going the Extra Mile, we are delighted to have you part of the Driver Require Team.
