Driving into December: The Extra Mile Edition 12 🚚 🎄

It's officially Christmas Season, arguments have been and gone about when it's the right time to put the Christmas decorations up (if you follow us on social media you'll know our Head Office tree has been up for a couple of weeks)🎄

Whilst Christmas is a celebration for many, we also recognise how tough the last couple of years have been financially and therefore it can become more of a burden to many. Below you'll find some resources to help you with the financial burden of the festive period, which we hope will help.

Here at Driver Require, we're busy ensuring all shifts are filled for our clients over the Christmas period. If you're looking for work, be sure to drop your nearest branch a call or email with your availability and we'll do our best to ensure you're out on the road.

Citizens Advice worked in partnership with Barclaycard to help people avoid falling into debt over Christmas by producing 'Top ten tips to help avoid Christmas debt hangover'.

These tips include:

💸 Plan early for Christmas - be realistic and budget accordingly
💸 Don't bank on an overdraft - ensure you speak to your bank first before running up an overdraft
💸 Keep things simple - if you can afford to pay for your goods outright don’t be persuaded to take out extended credit agreements
💸 Do your own credit checks - if you are going to use a credit card, shop around and compare terms. Some cards charge high interest rates, but provide interest free periods or discounts. Budget for all these costs and put the payment dates in your diary.

Have you always been in recruitment? If not, what did you do before? I have always been in Recruitment, started my career in 1995.

Favourite band/singer? – Don’t have a favourite, anything 1980’s and anything I can badly sing along to...

Favourite ‘binge watch’ series on TV/Netflix/Amazon etc? Documentaries on real life events, crime, history, and sport.

Favourite quote from a film? "Well, I have a microphone, and you don't, so you will listen to every damn word I have to say!”

What three words best describe you? Empathetic, Honest, thoughtful.

Proudest moment of your life to date? Outside of my children, competing in an extreme fitness event at 50 years of age.

Our Driver of the Month for December is Paul Winkworth from our Darford Branch. Paul drives for Ocado and has been with us since July this year. He is versatile in the shifts he works covering both the Purfleet and Erith sites when required. He has a great understanding of his role and Ocado procedures, whilst coming to us with a wealth of experience driving Class 1 vehicles. All with a clean driving record.
