Easter is nearly here - an excuse to eat as much chocolate as possible no matter your age! Easter holidays for the schools are well under way, if you're looking for things to do as a family over the break, there are some great ideas here.

Spring has officially arrived and although the weather hasn't been the greatest - I'm sure you've noticed the lighter morning and evenings, showing signs of brighter days ahead.

On Tuesday 28th March some of the team travelled up to Castle Donington to prepare for Ocado's Driver of the Year event the next day at Donington Race Track, you can view a time-lapse of the set up here!

Ocado run this annual event to recognise all the hard work and dedication of their drivers, and to thank them for keeping the business moving. There were gloomy skies, the rain was pouring down, but nothing could dampen the buzz of the day.

We were proud to sponsor the event for the 5th year running and be involved in a day celebrating Ocado’s safest, best drivers. A day jam packed with adrenaline on the race track, and driving related activities in the paddocks.

Drivers were whizzing round the track in some impressive vehicles testing out their driving skills, and whilst others waited their turn we tested their control skills with our to-scale replica Class One lorry. Participants were challenged to carry out a reverse manoeuvre into a narrow parking bay in the quickest time possible. James and Phil were the two who were managing impressive times and kept returning once the other had beaten their time. In the end, James came out on top with a remarkable time of just over 11 seconds - 5 seconds quicker than the previous record! James was awarded with a £200 Amazon voucher (picture bottom left).

We were pleased to nominate George Coman (pictured top middle & top right), as our LGV Driver of the Year. George is very polite, friendly, and an excellent driver - a fantastic representative of the company.

As an added plus some of the Driver Require team managed to get a ride in the cars on the day.

Our Driver of the Month for April is Gints Graudins from our Northampton branch. The team received a thankful email from one of our clients noting his conscientious attitude. Gints had a trailer swap to do at a depot near Doncaster and had messaged the client for trailer details for that swap. However, the contact was on holiday and therefore didn't see the message until 5 hours later. Due to an error, there were no trailer numbers on the system so Gints physically checked every trailer until he could identify the correct one. Gints found the correct trailer and the end-delivery was made on time without any interruption or confusion, without his help the delivery would've failed.
